A shelter is your physical dwelling at camp — the place you sleep and store your gear during the event. The portal tracks shelters so organizers can manage camp layout, coordinate power requirements for RVs, and plan storage. You can create your own shelter listing, join an existing one, or accept an invitation from a campmate.

Shelter types

Shelters come in several forms:

Viewing your shelter

Go to Shelter in the sidebar. If you have a confirmed shelter assignment, your shelter details appear under Your Shelter, including:
  • Shelter name and type
  • Dimensions (if entered)
  • Who else is assigned to the shelter
  • Whether the shelter owner has set it as needing power or pumping
If you have not yet claimed or been assigned a shelter, you will see options to Create Your Own Shelter or Join an Existing Shelter.

Shelter assignment statuses

Your relationship to a shelter has one of the following statuses:

Shelter owners and shelter mates

Every shelter has one owner — the member who created the shelter listing. The owner can invite other members to share the shelter. Members who join are shelter mates (also called guests). As an owner you can:
  • Edit the shelter details and dimensions
  • Invite campmates by name
  • Remove members from the shelter
  • Delete the shelter listing
As a shelter mate you can:
  • View the shelter details
  • Leave the shelter

Creating a shelter

If you are bringing your own shelter to camp:
1

Go to Shelter

Navigate to Shelter in the sidebar.
2

Select Create Your Own Shelter

The Create Shelter form appears on the left side of the page.
3

Fill in your shelter details

Enter a name, shelter type, dimensions (optional), and any notes. For RVs, enter the vehicle length and amperage.
4

Save your shelter

Submit the form. Your shelter is created and you are automatically set as the owner with a confirmed status.
5

Invite shelter mates

Use the Invite option on your shelter card to search for campmates and invite them to share your shelter.

Joining an existing shelter

If a campmate has created a shelter and made it available, it appears in the Or Join an Existing Shelter section. Select Join on any shelter card. The owner will be notified, and your status will be set to Pending until they confirm you. If you receive a direct invitation from a shelter owner, a Shelter Invitations section appears at the top of the Shelter page with cards to Accept or Decline each invite.

RV electrical requirements

RV shelters require specifying amperage — either 30-amp or 50-amp service. This directly affects your dues:
  • 30-amp service is the standard option and carries a separate RV fee
  • 50-amp service is for larger or more power-hungry rigs and carries a higher RV fee
The Infrastructure Lead uses this information to plan the camp power grid. If you own an RV, your onboarding checklist will include a line item to pay the appropriate RV fee. Until that fee is paid, your shelter may be flagged as incomplete, and an RV Requirements Incomplete alert will appear on your Shelter page with the outstanding steps listed.
If your RV amperage changes (for example, you switch rigs), contact your camp admin to update your shelter record. Incorrect amperage information can affect your dues and camp power planning.

Declaring items for storage

Container and item shipping details are tracked in your profile under the Container Shipping section, not on the Shelter page. If you are shipping items via a container truck service, enter the service name, number of items, and a description in your profile so logistics can plan accordingly.

Questions about your shelter placement

The physical placement of your shelter on the camp map is managed by camp organizers. If you have questions about where your shelter will be placed, message your admin directly. Placement details may be communicated closer to the event.
